If she was your friend, you had a friend for life. Sherri was a devoted wife, mother and daughter who had a loving heart. Sherri was an avid Duke basketball fan and she loved the beach, especially spending time there with her family. She was also a talented artist and loved creating works of art for her family and friends. Sherri loved music, especially classical rock, and she attended many concerts over her lifetime. She loved her students and treated them as if they were her own children. Sherri found her niche when she became a local coordinator with American Cultural Exchange Services (ACES), providing supervision for international exchange students while they attended school in the United States. Sherri worked for Alltel and American Airlines and was a natural born salesperson, like her father. Sherri moved with her parents to North Carolina in 1967 and graduated from Wake Forest High School and attended East Carolina University in Greenville. She is also survived by her aunts, Gloria Johnston of Virginia Beach, VA and Mary Lou Blakely of Raleigh and her cousins, Angela Marsh of Alexandria, VA and Donnie and Andy Reich of Virginia Beach, VA.

Sherri is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ron Brown, and their children, Daniel, Cameron and Allison Brown of Raleigh her father, Curtis Phelps and his wife, Nell, of Four Oaks and a stepsister, Ginger Worrell of Middlesex.
